Instead of using solid wood for the beams, you can use box beams instead. Three separate pieces of wood are fastened together to create what seems to be a single beam when the reclaimed wood beam is finished. After installation the box beam seems are completely unnoticeable and appear as one solid beam although the inside is hollow. There are several advantages to using box beams (also called faux beams). One main advantage is it’s much easier to get the exact dimensions needed for the job specs. Also, the lighter weight of the beams also makes installation much easier.
