We had the privilege of being the ones to source the reclaimed factory flooring at this Harley Davidson showroom in Southaven, MS. There is no question these dirty top maple floors create one of the most unique juxtaposed designs when they are complimented with Harley’s classic motorcycles. These antique floors seem to hold these motorcycles in place like a well-worn baseball glove.
Our repurposed maple floors share a unique history with America’s past. At one time, over 100 years ago, maple hardwood floors were an important part of everyday American life. They laced the floors of huge factories, post offices, and schools, among multiple other uses. During a time when the forests seemed endless, many manufacturers saw the opportunity to use maple wood as a staple for floors.
Over a century later, many of these factories and facilities are dilapidated and about to fall prey to rot and complete destruction. We work with crews all over the US to find these old floors and bring them to our facility. There, we remove the nails, smooth the tongue-and-groove edges, and keep the natural patina as much as possible so that they can last for another 100 years and more.
