Old World Timber’s Kentucky Racehorse Oak is milled from reclaimed oak horse fencing sourced from farms throughout central Kentucky, also known as “The Racehorse Capital of the World”. Our Racehorse Oak wallboard is sourced from thousands of miles of paddock fencing that we repurpose instead of seeing the wood go to waste. This style of accent offers a refined character, a clean finish, and an unmatched story that can only be found in reclaimed wood. The character of these timbers is extremely unique as they are exposed not only to the elements but also to the rubbing and chewing of the horses who live within them.

From Triple Crown winners such as American Pharaoh to the rookie horses trying to make a name for themselves, the passion and beauty of the horse industry is unparalleled. The heart of horse country resonates across the world, from Japan to Switzerland, from Dubai to New York, and all the way back to the center of it all, right here in Lexington, Kentucky. And we love bringing that story to your space.

In 1875, Churchill Downs hosted the first Kentucky Derby. And since then, Kentucky has been making its mark as the epicenter of the sport of kings. Horses are Kentucky’s pride and joy, and reclaiming that history is ours.

Central Kentucky is now home to over 450 horse farms and breeds the top race horses in the world. Each and every May, April and October, thousands of visitors gather to watch and wager on these majestic creatures.

At Old World Timber, we’re in the business of wood, but also of stories. We take the aged fences that the horses live alongside and turn that material into floors, walls, and beautiful accents. When these fences are built, they are made of 100% American oak, a premium hard-wood material. Each and every piece of wood carries the history of the farms they have contained, the horses that have chewed them, and the decades of Kentucky’s equestrian prestige.
